Sowing Green Peas 2020

It was a lovely sunny yet cold day. The low Northern wind temperature made being outdoors a bit unpleasant, with temperatures between 5°c – 10°c. Which is typically good conditions for sowing Green peas, but not so much in favor of a Gentle Gardener..lol

In the picture above you can see the part of my garden tilted in preparation for sowing peas. My winter strawberries are next to this.

Late February to early March is the most favorable period for sowing green peas, as advised by the local farmers. Sticking with such tradition comes with the benefit of, growing and reaping a wonderful harvest. With little or no problems.

I have two methods of sowing these seeds. In groups of a maximum of 5 per hole, or rows as seen in the picture above. My preferred method is using the row technique.
It takes up less space and makes maintenance plus harvesting easier.

As temperature rises and weather conditions become more favorable. Regular monitoring and light watering become necessary. As the seeds become susceptible in dry conditions.

Mesh wire, added in support of the germinating peas. I prefer placing this only after the shoots become visible. This assures placing the mesh with more accuracy.

Seeing my seeds sprouting always gives me a pleasant feeling of accomplishment..
